Still no running but there has been lots of hiking, walking, and swimming instead. I’ve really enjoyed getting back into swimming and am hoping I’ll be able to make it a part of my regular cross training. I’ve got a run planned for tomorrow as long as the weather isn’t too hot…I’m more than ready to get back into the jist of things!
I received an email about this so I thought I’d pass it along in case anyone is interested:
Chicago, IL— Registration is now open for the 5th Annual Team Lifeline Marathon and Half-Marathon and participants are graciously gearing up and warming up their muscles in preparation for their charitable participation in this year’s race benefiting Chai Lifeline’s Camp Simcha. The races take place on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in Las Vegas, NV and Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Miami, FL and participants have the option of running or walking in either a 26.2-mile or 13.1-mile race.
Once registered, participants must commit to raising funds for Chai Lifeline, the international children’s health network that exists to bring joy and hope to seriously ill children and their families. The funds raised by Team Lifeline marathoners benefit Chai Lifeline’s summer camp programs Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special. The proceeds from last year enabled 400 children to attend these incredible overnight summer camps that are designed to meet the unique medical and social needs of children and teens with cancer, life-threatening or lifelong illnesses.
As with years past, the increasingly rising number of participants are encouraged to take advantage of the unique resources and support from Team Lifeline—the innovative, endurance training program that prepares marathoners for the charitable completion of a half or full marathon. Each participant is equipped with customized training schedules, access to online coach Toby Tanser, their own personal fundraising web page and fundraising coach, furthering their ability to bring inspiration and optimism to many lives. Team Lifeline is so dedicated to the individual’s success that once the participant reaches the fundraising minimum of $3,600 (United States and Canada), they cover the costs of each participants’ round-trip airfare, three night stay in the official Team Lifeline Headquarters hotel, pre-race pasta party, post-race victory party and more.
About Team Lifeline
Team Lifeline is the innovative, effective training program that gets runners and walkers ready to meet their goal of finishing a half or full marathon. To join, participants commit to raising funds for Chai Lifeline, the international children’s health support network. Chai Lifeline’s mission is to enhance the lives of seriously ill children and their families through activities that offer friendship, good times, great memories, and emotional and social support. Ari Weinberger, a Chai Lifeline supporter, founded team Lifeline in 2006 because he was impressed by the amount of pre-race support he was given while he was training for a half-marathon for another charity. Weinberger thought that someone should be doing this for a Jewish organization—Team Lifeline was born.
