Excuse me, world, but did you SEE this race yesterday?! UNBELIEVABLE. I was jumping up and down and screaming at the television. (I’m sure the neighbours loved that) Talk about INTENSE!!!! Jason Lezak sure anchored like no other with a WR of 46.06!!! That’s on top of the first leg where Australia’s Sullivan had broken the WR swimming in 47.24. All the men on the US team had fabulous swims and that teamwork was incredible – they collectively pulled off a 3:08.24.
Just in case you don’t know, the top FIVE teams (USA/FRA/AUS/ITA/SWE) broke the previous world record for the race (3:12.23 – set in the qualifiers..before that it was 3:12.46 at the Pan-Pacific games). That is just INSANE!!! Canada came in sixth with a very respectable 3:12.26.
Here’s a video if you weren’t fortunate enough to watch it live:
This just reiterates that the Olympics are totally worth messing up my sleep schedule.
